DSES – Educator Session – Special Education/Inclusion/IEPs

February 20 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free
Down Syndrome Alliance of the Midlands
The Down Syndrome Education Series (DSES) is a monthly educational seminar for families of children with Down syndrome, designed to connect parents with information that will positively impact the education and well-being of their child.
The Educators’ session for February 2018 is entitled: “FAPE, LRE, IEP, FBA, BIP…It’s all so confusing! What’s my role in all of this? How can I make sure my students get what’s best for them?” by Dr. Brian Herndon
Educators will learn about special education topics that are important to parents. They will also learn more about what their role is in this whole process and how they can operate within that role to ensure that IEP meetings go smoothly!
Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm
UNO Community Engagement Center Room 231
Brian Herndon is an educator, advocate, and a parent of a child with special needs. He has nearly 20 years experience working in schools. He has been a building administrator, where he has served as an LEA for hundreds of IEP meetings. He has been a classroom teacher representative for dozens more. Dr. Herndon has been married to his wife, Jenny, for nearly 16 years, and they have four children, one of whom sports an extra 21st chromosome!
